What is this world coming to? (1971)
Many nature drawings populated childhood/teenage years, but What is this world coming to? was the first work that
married a love of animals and nature with early philisophical and ethical observations of the world.
Miss Duck (a real name), the forth grade teacher, required students to pin up and explain their works presented that day.
After class, Miss Duck gave Fiona a detention for her nature drawing, claiming that it is not what she had asked for.
Rather than discouraging Fiona, teacher's reaction encouraged a life-time resolve to challlenge the status quo.
In this way, What is this world coming to? could be considered the first artwork of Bowie's ourvre.
